Beating the Summer Heat

Song running through my head: American Honey by Lady Antebellum

Hello Everyone!

It's been very hot here recently. In New Mexico, it gets pretty warm...but not humid, thank goodness, otherwise I'd be melted to the point of not being able to type this post. I sympathize with you people in the Southeastern states.

To "beat the heat" so to say, we have made our own personal cooling tent. I like to call it the...Tent of Cool. but if you guys can come up with a more creative name than that, I would be glad to hear it. :D

It consists of a tent and one of those misting ropes that spritzes water down into the air. Apparently it's supposed to make the air 30 degrees cooler, and I believe them.

We also have our two kiddy pools that we got at Kmart, a lovely source of standing water which is very nice to splash around in. It suits my brother better, who likes to sit and play with his Lego police boat. Or do this:

My dolls also enjoy the pool immensely.

I'm also thinking of selling tickets to our yard as a Lightning Strike Arena. With the metal framework on that tent and the gallons of standing water, it's the perfect place to be electrocuted while still having a handy-dandy place to watch fireworks.

Speaking of fireworks, the day before yesterday was the Fourth of July, and so we continued our tradition of going outside and blowing things up. There were also some beautiful fireworks going off in our very near vicinity, so we were able to stand right on our driveway and see them. Here are some pictures I took of the festivities;

Sparks flew.
Keep cool!

P.S. I finished reading The Magician's Nephew yesterday. Onto The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe!
