The Talisman

A very happy Monday morning to you all!

It's been busy around my house. We're engaged in warfare against end-of-semester troubles. This, being my first year in high school, is also my first year taking finals. I have to wonder whose idea it was to make kids test on everything they've crammed into their wee heads over four months or so.

Anyways, the semester ends today and I'm all but done, so I figured it was a good time to start up communications again!

Along with school, writing has been occupying my brain. But then, when isn't it? I finished NaNoWriMo, completing my word count on November 31st with many other people who are crazy enough to try it. :D However, my novel, to my surprise and delight, is still not finished. It's at 35,500 words and maybe half done. My characters still have battles to fight, worlds to unite, and relationships to cultivate. They can't stop now!

I'd like you to meet my main character, Lark (or sometimes Larken):

(Not my image, which you probably already guessed)
She's smart, fast, and determined to do whatever it takes to accomplish her quest. Along with Charlotte, the book I wrote in 2010, this is my favorite that I've ever done. I feel a connection to the characters, which is something that I have to feel if I'm going to enjoy writing the story enough to finish it. Lark narrates the book, along with a boy that I've deemed Nick (he might get a name change) who doesn't do what I tell him to. He's given me a lot of trouble so far and unless he quits it, he may have to be kicked out of narrating duties. *pauses to give Nick a hard stare*

Alright, that's what I've been doing lately. 2013 should be a year of communication, my friends! Feel free to tell me what your plans and goals are for this spiffy new year.

I totally relate to your relationship with Nick! My characters *never* do what I tell them to. Have you ever set up Facebook accounts for your characters? If you do, they should befriend mine! *nods*
